STOCKHOLM, Feb. 4 — The latest Scandinavian styles of furniture and lighting designs gathered in Stockholm’s international exhibition center on Tuesday, pushing this years’ Stockholm Design Week to its peak.
Thousands visitors, international purchasers, architects, and designers rushed to Stockholm Massan, where they are enchanted by numerous interior trendy designs combining fashion and practicality.
“The Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair and Stockholm Design week is the world largest meeting place for Scandinavian furniture and light design,” Cecilia Nyberg, Event Manager for Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair told Xinhua.
“We have approximately 700 exhibitors and we have a lot of international exhibitors as well. Around 20 percent of the participating companies come from other countries other than Scandinavia, so around 80 percent represent Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, “she said.
Roughly 700 companies exhibit their furniture, lighting and textile products at the fair, where they are offered extensive opportunities to make good contacts and good businesses.
In the meantime, it is by all means an aesthetic feast for all who long for ideal living and working environments.
One of the highlights of this year’s fair is the Entrance Hall, decorated by a Danish-Italian style, emphasizing the concept of movement. The design, with delicately crafted woodworks combined with sitting lounge, reflected “men’s search for balance.”
Another highlight is the Greenhouse, where new talents are given the opportunity to show their prototypes and meet furniture and lighting manufacturers.
“I just wanna showcase my school and the possibilities of this kind of education, talk to anyone who is interested and ask a lot of questions of about other schools that I am interested.” Harald Stigare, student from Wood, Form and Design Program at Nychelviksskolan told Xinhua.
“This fair is really a good place to come if you are interested in this line of work or this line of study, to see all the possibilities of different schools and different concepts of design. “he said.
The fair is the spotlight of the Stockholm Design Week, which kicked started on Monday and will end on Sunday. The Week consists of more than 60 design-related events held at different locations around the Stockholm.
“Design Week functions an industry meeting place even outside of Stockholmsmassan’s halls,” said Cecilia, “The days are jam-packed with business opportunities at the fair and the evenings are crammed with get-togethers and parties.”
Stockholm Design Week now is an annual event, which started in 2002, in Sweden, a Scandinavian country famous for its designs.[db:内容2]
