China to join Istanbul book expo


BEIJING, Nov. 1 — China is to take part in the Istanbul Book Fair as guest of honor, bringing 2,000-plus publications as well as influential authors and artists.
Activities will be sponsored by the State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television and the China National Publications Import and Export Corporation.
According to a statement released on Friday by the sponsors, more than 100 publishing houses will exhibit and exchange activities will be held with the participation of Chinese authors, scholars and artists, including Tie Ning, chair of the Chinese Writers Association and Yu Hua, an avant-garde novelist whose “To Live” was adapted for the cinema by director Zhang Yimou.h Other activities will include forums and seminars on topics such as children’s books, translations and publications of Chinese and Turkish literature, and the book markets of the two countries.
The book fair will run from Saturday to Nov. 10 at the Tuyap Fair Convention and Congress Center.[db:内容2]
