Tour Itinerary

Day 1 Feb.1 2013 Beijing Arrival

Welcome to Beijing! Clear the customs and retrieve your baggage by yourself upon arrival, be greeted by our tour guide in the Arrival Hall who is holding a sign on which says your name; transferred by your private car/van to your hotel downtown.

Day 2 Feb.2, 2013 Beijing City Tour & Spring Festival Eve ( B, L )

After breakfast, you will first visit the world's biggest city plaza, the Tiananmen Square. Subsequently, you could enter the Forbidden City which is the most complete imperial palace in China from the Meridian Gate (south gate). Upon stepping inside, can you imagine how grand the Forbidden City is under the strong contrast of yellow glazed tiles and red wall when the surrounding is showing a soughing chill sight?

The next is highlight of this Spring Festival tour. You will be transferred to the old Beijing area. Then you will take a rickshaw to visit the Hutongs. During the festival, you will have a chance to see how the local people past the Spring Festival couplets. Maybe you can see the little boys set off the firecrackers.

Lunch will be arranged at a local family. If you'd like, the host will friendly teach you how to make Chinese dishes.

In the afternoon, enjoy your free time at the hotel. To watch the Spring Festival Gala with all the family member became very popular in China. You can enjoy the Spring Festival Gala from 8:00pm in your room. Please do not worry the language; you can enjoy the CCTV-9 which is the English Channel for foreigners.

Day 3 Feb.3, 2013 Beijing Temple Fair Tour ( B, L )

Today is the first day of the New Year. Chinese people will pay the New Year calls on relatives and friends to extend New Year greetings. So if you can say Happy New Year to the guide, driver and the ordinary Chinese people, they will be appreciated that.

Enjoy the temple fair is another important event during the Spring Festival Holiday. Today you will be transferred to the most famous Longtanhu Temple Fair. The temple fair is a kind of social activity in China. Legend has it that it originated in ancient times when people offered sacrifices to the village god, which later gradually evolved into a marketplace for people to exchange products and a place for cultural performance. Lunch will be arranged in a local restaurant.

After the lunch break, in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Temple of Heaven which has been seen as the most holy imperial temple in Beijing as it is the complex where the emperor came every winter solstice to worship Heaven and pray for good harvest.

In the evening, traditional comprehensive performances (Beijing opera, folk vocal arts, acrobatics, magic and more) will be arranged in Laoshe Tea House. Laoshe Tea House was established in 1988 which has ancient décor and a 100% Beijing-style atmosphere. It is a place every visitor to Beijing should come and see.

After the enjoying the performances you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Temple Fair of Beijing

Day 4 Feb.4, 2013 Beijing Skiing Tour ( B, L )

Today will be a small challenge for you as you will be transferred to the Badaling Great Wall. It may windy in winter, especially on the Great Wall due to its high altitude. But in winter, Badaling Great Wall takes on another charm, especially after the snowfall. It wriggles its way like a silver dragon. The plants and hill are covered with silver clothes. Even without snow, the grand system of the Great Wall plus blue sky and white clouds must attract you.

After lunch, you will be driven to Shijinglong Ski Resort located 80km from Beijing, west of Longqiong Gorge. Enjoy skiing in the afternoon, the most popular sport in Beijing’s winter. Shijinglong Ski Resort totally owns 7 different trails covering beginner’s trail, intermediate trail and advanced trail.

After skiing in the afternoon, you will return to your downtown hotel.

Day 5 Feb.5, 2013 Beijing Departure ( B, L )

Meet your tour guide in the morning, subsequently you will depart for the Summer Palace, the most famous imperial garden in Beijing listed as one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is winter hence the huge man-made lake which covers three quarter the whole garden is frozen. The picturesque view will press you a lot. After lunch, our tour guide meets you and escorts you to the airport for your flight home or to the next destination. Have a nice flight!
