Day 1 Aboard the Train from Beijing to Lhasa

Our tour guide and private car/van will pick you up from your hotel or location in Beijing at around 18:30 to the Beijing West Railway Station, and you take the overnight train T27 starting at 21:30 for Lhasa.

Train T27 will arrive at Lhasa Railway Station at 16:00 on the third day, running almost 47 hours and 28 minutes.

Day 2 Train Travel

China passes by your window today, as the train runs through the Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan, Zhongwei, Lanzhou, Xining, Ge'er Mu, Naqu and Lhasa. Enjoy the gorgeous landscapes outside of the window.

Day 3 Train Travel and Arrival at Lhasa

Beijing-Lhasa is 4,064 km, of which 1,110 km are over the newly-built Qinghai-Tibet railway. You are in this section (Golmud to Lhasa) when awake today.

'Closer to the tracks, snowmelt collected in puddle-like lakes, and rivers with ice-crusted banks made lazy S-curves across the nubby brown tundra'. What a Sight!

Arrival at Lhasa at 16:00, and our tour guide and driver transfer you to your hotel in Lhasa. Free for the rest of the day to acclimate yourself to the high altitude.

Day 4 Lhasa ( B, L )

Today will visit Lhasa's cardinal landmark Potala Palace, the spiritual center of Tibet, and the Jokhang Temple. Then stroll around at the famous Barkhor Street.

Potala Palace is known as the highest palace in the world, well worth visiting for its artistic value, historic purposes, and cultural awareness, has been regarded as the No. 1 must-see attraction in Tibet.

Jokhang Temple (or Jokhang Monastery), situated at the heart of the old town of Lhasa, is the spiritual center of Tibet and the holiest destination for all Tibetan pilgrims, as well as a prime seat of the Gelugpa of the Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 5 Holy Lake Namtso ( B, L )

Today will have a full excursion to the holy lake Namtso.

Namtso Lake is one of the 3 holy lakes in Tibet, playing an important role among Tibetans. Every sheep year in Tibetan calendar, the Trekking Namtso Festival is held and numerous pilgrims from far away visit the lake to pay homage.

Day 6 Lhasa ( B, L )

Explore the Drepung Monastery up on the hillside, experience wonderful views of the whole of Lhasa city on the roof of the hillside, visit Norbulingka - the summer palace of Dalai Lamas, and enjoy interesting "Buddhism Scriptures Debating" at the Sera Monastery.

Day 7 Lhasa Departure ( B )

Enjoy your free time in the morning. Then be transferred to the Gonggar Airport and take flight back to Beijing or to your next destination.
