Sample Itinerary Overview
Day 1 Beijing Arrival ( L )
Welcome to Beijing! Upon your arrival at Beijing international airport, our guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. After check in and having a short rest, you will marvel at the splendid Summer Palace, the former royal garden, it is the largest and most beautiful Chinese imperial garden. After the tour, you will be driven back to your hotel.
Day 2 Beijing ( B,L )
Today our tour guide will meet you and pick you up from your hotel around 8:00 am. Then drive to the beautiful Mutianyu Great Wall (80km away from Beijing downtown), it is known for its beautiful surroundings. It is a superb location to appreciate the grandness of the Great Wall as well as to avoid the crowds at Badaling.
After hiking on the Mutianyu Great Wall then move on to the Ming Tombs (Changling ) and its Sacred Way.
On the way back, you may make a stop at the Beijing Olympic Village to take some pictures of the world-famed “Birds Nest” and the “Water Cube” from the outside.
Feel a little bit tired? Not to worry! We will arrange a foot massage (free of charge) for you, just relax and enjoy it! After the tour, you will be escorted back to your hotel.
Later you will be taken to Beijing Liyuan Theatre to enjoy the Beijing Opera.
Day 3 Beijing ( B,L )
After breakfast. Transfer to Beijing Cuisine School for your cooking lesson. Learn to cook with the Chinese students. The teachers will teach you how to cook the real Chinese food step by step and one-on-one. You will cooperate with the other students from all over the world and have lunch that you cooked together.
After lunch, head to one of the century-old Daoxiangcun Foodstuffs Store. Historically, the store cooked light snacks for the royal family and governmental officials in the Qing Dynasty. But today it has become a famous brand to all Chinese, well-known for its Chinese pastries, candies, cooked meat, and fast-frozen food.
Then visit Hutong by rickshaw. Through the Hutongs’ teeming maze of alleys, you will see the old courtyard houses and learn about the daily life of ordinary Beijing citizens. Visit one of the local family and learn how to make dumpling with the housewife. Also you will visit a local Fruit & Vegetable Market. It is a food market where local people come to purchase vegetable, meats, fruits, spices and other life necessities that make Chinese cooking special.
Afterwards, you will be transferred back to your hotel.
Day 4 Beijing & Flight to Chengdu ( B,L )
Today our guide will pick you up at your hotel around 8:00 a.m. Firstly you will visit the world’s biggest city plaza, Tiananmen Square. Subsequently you will move on to the Forbidden City, the most complete imperial palace in China.
After having Chinese lunch, you’ll visit the Temple of Heaven — the largest ancient imperial worship architecture group in the world where the ancient Emperors prayed for peace and harvest.
After the whole day tour, our guide will escort you to the airport for the flight to Chengdu. A vibrant city in the heart of Sichuan province, Chengdu has a great climate and friendly locals. Transfer from the airport and check into the hotel this evening and try the famous Chengdu Hot Pot, considered some of Sichuans best cuisine!
Day 5 Chengdu ( B,L )
In the morning, transfer to the Panda Breeding Reserve to see these adorable animals up close. You’ll also find out how this endangered species is being protected in the wild and what you can do to help.
After lunch, the rest of the day is free for you to explore the rest of the town independently.
In the evening enjoy the excellent Chengdu Culture Show.
Day 6 Chengdu & Flight back to Beijing( B,L )
Delve deeper into Sichuan cooking by learning what is undoubtedly the favorite cooking style in Sichuan, the jia chang cai home style cooking. We take lessons under the guidance of a local Chengdu-nese in her home in central Chengdu.
The cooking class session starts with a visit to the local neighborhood market. There will be a three dish instructor cooking demonstration followed by the student’s hands-on cooking session.
The rest of day is for you to explore the rest of Chengdu. The Old Town is a great place to relax, and the famous bustling teahouses where locals gather with their birdcages to play cards and mahjong are great. Join them in People’s Park and get a shoulder rub, or practice some Tai Chi.
Relax till it is time to transfer to the airport and fly back to Beijing.
